Our Ahi Kā pourewa (elevated lookout) is designed for two people, the perfect chance to disconnect from the world, and reconnect with nature and each other.

Nestled along Wellington’s South Coast, this secluded escape is just 30 minutes from the nearest town, yet feels a world away.

Positioned above the rugged coastline, your pourewa offers breathtaking views of the South Pacific Ocean – stretching from the dazzling lights of Wellington City, to the Kaikōura Ranges across the Cook Strait.

Replenish your wairua (spirit) and immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of our whenua (land), whether from the comfort of the pourewa, or out exploring the elements.

FAQs

Is Parangarehu pet-friendly?

As much as we love fury friends, Parangarehu is strictly a no pet zone due to conservation efforts in the area. If you’re lucky, you may spot some wildlife during your stay including dolphins, whales, native birds, and the local pig.

Can I bring my children?

Due to the steep cliffsides, Parangarehu is an adult-only accommodation. So, as much as we’d love to host your little ones, take some time to unwind, and reconnect with each other by having a getaway exclusively for the two of you.

What do I need to bring?

Comfortable walking shoes and warm clothes is a must for your stay at Parangarehu. Because the area is exposed and true Wellington-weather can show you all four seasons in one day, we recommend packing layers and throwing in a pair of sneakers to enjoy the many walks in the area.

What can I do during my stay?
